Central Park, New York City, NY
It continues to be an unusual and yet welcome event, every time I get to meet a new couple or family within the shade of the Central Park canopy. It’s unusual because we have to find one another with masks on, among little pods or sub groups of socially distances strangers who often to, are looking for members to their party. It’s also a welcome moment when I am able to finally meet these new people who have given me an opportunity to photograph them, briefly chatting, exchanging pleasantries, smiles and sometimes the occasional giggle of their small child / children. It’s familiar and its different. Its very New York City with a hint of pandemic.
I met the L family by the Ladies Pavilion on a sunny, breezy Saturday in May. They had informed me that their in-laws who the pandemic had separated them from for months and months were in town and that they might be persuaded to be in a few photos. I was so excited to have three generations in one session that I went a little photo crazy and took way more photos then I normally would in a mini session. I think I was making up for all the families I know who just won’t get that chance anymore because of the pandemic. It was a beautiful afternoon with a beautiful family and I’m glad I was able to meet them and capture these photos for em’.
