We believe that brides should not only feel amazing on their wedding day, but that they should feel especially, authentically themselves. Embarking on the adventure that is finding an unforgettable wedding gown actually isn’t as hard as it may first seem. I highly recommend researching independent designers in your town and city, as well as exploring overseas designers who may have a unique style that just so happens to capture the exact “you-style” you’re looking for. We include and recommend a list of some of our favorite designers in our preferred vendor list in our wedding guide, but you have to be a Writer & Beloved Photography bride to see that.

A Soft Pink Tulle Gown w. Floral Details
Made Bride by Antonea (Greece Based Wedding Designer)
The first gown I wanted to put a spotlight on is from the Charisma Collection by Made Bride by Antonea a wonderful designer based in Greece. In this editorial we ventured out into the Cotswolds in the UK to celebrate one of Jane Austen’s most adored characters, Emma. The editorial was an Emma inspired elopement celebrating individuality, romance and thoughtfulness. This dress was marvelous. It was perfectly bridal while still being unique and elevated. It sparkled, it got swept up in the wind, it danced with our bride. It was lovely to photograph and was such a gorgeous part of the story of the day.
A Romantic & Timeless Gown

Barbara Kavchok is a wedding gown designer based out of Bethlehem Pennsylvania. When I saw her gowns for the first time I fell in love with how romantic and distinctive and ethereal they are. They were a nod to the past with beauty and comfort that would speak to any modern bride. Barbara and I collaborated on an editorial that took place at Glen Foerd Mansion in Philadelphia Pennsylvania. I really wanted to tell the story of the bride who lives in our modern world but loves the beauty of the old world. In order to bring this inspiration to life we wanted gowns that felt timeless & romantic. Barbara’s gowns are handcrafted on site in Bethlehem, and she has a focus on sustainability and no waste practices- making her gowns not only remarkably special and beautiful, but thoughtfully modern in practice and accountability. Light & Airy Tulle Gowns with the Perfect Cape Combo
Sadly I do not know who designed this particular gown, but I am so glad I got to photograph it. While second shooting for the great Presley Grace Photography I got to capture some super fun candids of the bride Emily and she could not have looked more beautiful or at ease in this gown. The wedding took place at The Excelsior one of my favorite wedding venues in Lancaster Pennsylvania. What I loved most about this dress was that it was incredibly light, yet elegant. I loved that it felt both vintage and modern somehow, it provided coverage and the cape could be worn many different ways. Our bride wore it two ways- draped across her chest for the ceremony and then turned it into a scarf for the reception. She looked fabulous and the effortless feel of the dress made it so swoon worthy!
A Lace Detail Gown From Another Time

This gown also from the charisma Collection by MadeBride by Antonea is one of my favorite gowns I have ever photographed. The dress had intricate lace detail with large scallop framing at the center of the bust. The neck line was stunning with leaf shaped details. Whether stationary or in movement the gown was incredibly captivating. Model Charlotte Verity Daffurn captured the essence of the inquisitive well humored bride that we aimed for– beautifully. The gown also had a stunning caped hood that balanced the length and fabric and added a bit of playful drama to the gown. I can’t get enough of this dress. It was a perfect countryside wedding dress. We photographed this at the Water’s Edge at Ewen in Gloucestershire, and afterwards I flew back home from the english countryside to Lancaster Pennsylvania, my very own countryside, and I couldn’t help but remark on the similarities and slow beauty of the two places.
I hope this blog post inspired you to research designers and styles that may be less conventional or perhaps “off the beaten path” of what is mass marketed or particularly loud on your algorithm these days. The Writer & Beloved bride is sentimental, she is a story teller at heart and the heart is the story- the people who she loves, the way which she loves them and how she wishes to love them her whole life. The gown she chooses will be a relevant extension of her sensibilities and her personality. I encourage you to go on an expedition for your wedding gown, and find something spectacular like a fire work, or subtle as a soft hymn- but let it be you, and make it relevant to the story you will share for generations to come.
